Among many things, May is National Masturbation Month! Many of you in this community have talked about how being outdoors is something that gets you more in touch with your bodies and is one of the places you like to masturbate most, so here are a few things we wanted to share with you as this month heats up:

Masturbation is sometimes used interchangeable with the term "solo sex", but this is a reminder that mutual masturbation can happen with any number of people!

Similarly, masturbation can also happen completely by yourself, even if you're partnered. This is your sign: no need to wait for someone else!

Contrary to popularized belief, regular masturbation is not only *not* going to desensitize you to feeling pleasure during other kinds of sex, but also it's worth remembering that masturbation can actually *help* you to learn more about what feels best in your body.

There is no one right way to masturbate! Fingers, toys, and so much more can all be a part of this kind of play and pleasure. You can let go of any shame or embarrassment you might hold for your ideal masturbation looking different than you've seen or imagined. If you're feeling good, it's working perfectly.

There are also no prescribed body parts or regions that legitimize masturbation. A variety of erogenous zones are often prime targets so try using this time to explore different areas of your body you haven't given as much love before.

Whether you're outdoors or in, remember to wash your hands, toys, etc. before and after to avoid the spread of bacteria. You'll thank yourself later.
